For a Sagaponack, NY home done in collaboration with architect Annabelle Selldorf, Joe Nahem of Fox-Nahem transformed this study wall into a work of art by paneling it with reclaimed barnwood from Carlisle Wide Plank Floors. The clean design and horizontal lines make it the perfect backdrop for the client’s art and books; however, it holds its own in the space, and according to Nahem has become one of the client’s favorite rooms.

“A room should never allow the eye to settle in one place. it should smile at you and create fantasy.”

For the dramatic Reframed Foyer of the 2024 Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York, designer Bennett Liefer created a custom installation with Edward Fields. The room, which is completely carpeted from floor to ceiling, incorporates archival patterns Rebound and Computations. Within the recessed niche, a gridded pattern flows into a pixelated mirror frame. The design transitions to a curvilinear pattern and draws the eye to the drama that unfolds on the ceiling, with swagged lighting working in concert with draped fringe. Door casings are made from carved carpet, and an accent chair is upholstered in tufted silk and carpet fringe. Leifer sought to break the standards of how carpet is traditionally used, and challenge the creative capabilities of the material.

When the LSU Tigers women’s basketball team won the national championship in 2023, they were treated to a complete redo of their locker room. Designer Wendy Sharp wanted to create a space that was “what a national championship locker room looks like.” She worked with Artistic Tile to create a design meant to exude the confidence, talent, and strength of the team. The school colors of purple and gold are reflected in lilac marble. The violet hued stone, cut in multiple formats, was paired with metallic Martello Gold, iridescent Garden District, and custom Moons to complete the look.

A grand entry hall in a North Carolina home by Claire Staszak of Centered by Design incorporates a dramatic black and white marble floor mosaic from Artistic Tile. To keep the design fresh, Staszak painted the doors, railings and bannister black, and hung a frosted-glass chandelier with a modern edge.
